12 Facts About Me

1. I have tons of shoes but lately I will not put anything on my feet other than a comfy pair of tennis shoes.  I think this is because I am actually allowed to wear tennis shoes to work this year! WHO-HOO!

2. I am probably one of the last people alive who does not have an iphone.  In fact, I don't even have internet capability on my phone.  I'm attached to my macbook and ipad2 so I feel like I really only need my cell for talking.

3. I can not stand to have short fingernails!  My nails are pretty strong and grow pretty long on their own- thank goodness!  That feeling of having short nails is like scratching your nails on the chalkboard...I can not stand it!

4. I have 2 cats.  They are brother and sister and are named appropriately: Hercules and Xena.

5. I think my great grandmother is a superhero.  She is 99 years old, 4 feet something, and still manages to mow, plow, and plant her own fields.  I strongly believe I am alive and well today because she says she has prayed for me every single day of my life.  I totally believe her.

6.I have one younger sister, Leslie.  I am exactly 3 years and 6 days older than her.  Almost every time we meet someone new, they assume that she is the older sister.  I completely take offense to this.  I realize that one day I will be glad when she is seen as the older one but for now it is totally uncool.

7. I think I have an addiction to Baskin Robbins' Love Potion #31.  Which means I literally go into mourning at the end of February when they retire the flavor until the next year.

8. I caught a very rare virus in my heart tissue when I was 5.  It caused such great damage that my heart can not beat on its own.  This past October (over Fall Break) I received my 7th implanted pacemaker/defibrillator.  That's right....I'm on lucky number 7.

9. Because of the above mentioned heart stuff I had an extremely risky pregnancy.  My Madeline Grace (Gracie) is my true miracle baby.  After her birth we were both placed on separate hospital floors.  On Day 3 we were finally able to meet each other.  Want to know something awesome?  At the exact moment that we met for the first time (outside the womb), both our heart monitors began going wacko at the same time.  I call that true love.

10. On a much lighter note, I had the hugest adult crush on Viggo Mortensen's character in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.  I think it was the scruffiness.

11. I do not have a teacher's desk in my classroom.  By choice.  I don't need it, don't want to be tempted to sit behind it, and find myself to be a much more effective teacher without it.  Plus, it frees up much needed space for me and if you have ever seen my classroom you know space is something that I need desperately!  Maybe I'll blog about the no desk thing one of these days.

12. Lastly, I'll tell you that I am a huge multi-tasker.  I feel strange if I have nothing to do or nothing in my hand.  I keep myself busy with many on-going things, all at once, at all times.  Does that even make sense?
