Pencil Shaving Bunnies and Oreo Moon Phases

In the spirit of Earth Day and Easter I thought I'd share these adorable bunnies my kids made in art today.  They drew an outline of a rabbit with glue and covered it with pencil shavings.  We recycle just about everything these days!  Simple but cute.  :)

We are also learning about the phases of the moon this week.  We watched a brainpop jr. video on moon phases and then had a little fun recreating the phases with oreo cookies.  We organized our oreo moon phases on this wonderful handout from my sweet friend Hilary.  After we ate the oreos, we drew the phases in with our black crayons.  You can download your own copy of her Oreo Moon Phase Packet for free at Rockin' Teacher Materials.  Thank you for sharing, Hilary!

I'm jealous of all of you that are out on Spring Break this week!  Thank goodness we will be out for Good Friday because I am very much in need of another day off! :)

  1. Those are adorable! I wonder how it would work to paint over the shavings? That would make for some cute texture on an easter egg! Can't wait to use it with my kids!

  4. We were introduced to the oreo lesson in college for teaching the moon and I think it's wonderful! What kid doesn't love oreos and combining it with science is even better.:) New follower!
