Zero the Hero!

Check out my homemade Zero the Hero!! :)  He's made of felt.  Hand-stitched with love.....
He arrived on our 10th day of school along with a note and some DONUTS!! :)  Our financial secretary interrupted our morning meeting to bring us our special delivery.  It had been left in the front office for us, of course.  It was perfect timing because we had just finished talking about wrapping the zero (rubber band) around the straws to make our first group of ten!

Here are a few pictures from our festivities.

Most of the activities I use for Zero the Hero come from a combination of these fabulous packets:

(Thanks, ladies!)

We also practiced counting to Dr. Jean's Number Stomp and worked on learning how to skip count by 10's to 100.  Zero will return to us this week for our 20th day of school.....I wonder what he will bring us this time! :)

Seriously....aren't they adorable?

  1. Those are stinkin' ADORABLE!!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! I co-taught last year and our class was in love with Jack Hartmann's ZTH song! Thanks for the share!

  2. Love your zero the hero! You did a great job! I never thought of the rubber band being like a 0 to make the tens. How smart! Can't wait to see what comes next!

  5. Love Zero the Hero! He actually came today for the 20th day of school. He also brought us doughnuts for the 10th day. Today he brought us 0 shaped glow bracelets...15 bracelets for $1 at Target Dollar stop. I'm thinking Lifesavers for the 30th day?!?!

  6. I never heard of zero the hero. Am I the last to know about that? So cool! I tried to pin him but pinterest is giving me fits today so I'll be back...
