Groundhog Grouping: Tens and Ones Freebie!

With Groundhog Day right around the corner I'm planning some festive activities for the week.  I have a few station games still in the works but I wanted to go ahead and share this reproducible.  This week my class will continue working with composing and decomposing numbers 11 through 19 into tens and ones.  I plan to use this as an assessment at the end of the week.  I'm asking my kiddos to circle the groups of ten on the handout so that they can see the decomposition in action.  I'm hoping that having them create each group of ten will move them further towards a solid foundation in place value.

My 5 year old wanted to test it out this evening.  She approves. :)
